Each month, we are featuring a different staff member’s favorite item picks. Stay tuned at the end of each month for some skincare pearls.
Part 8 in our series, “Stranded on a Deserted Island/Carolyn’s Favorites”
At Honet Dermatology/Cosmetic, we often talk and think about skin care products—what we love, why we love them, and why some just leave us saying, “meh”. We talk about them among ourselves and we talk about them to patients. Although taking care of skin is our job, each and every one of us is actually a little bit obsessed about makeup and obsessive about taking care of our own skin and making our skin look the best it can be. We sell a lot of products in the office and we use them, too. But the following is a list of skin care or beauty items that we can’t live without—the stranded-on-a-deserted-island kind, the can’t-live-without kind.
“Initially I wasn’t sure about using loose powder, but after switching, I actually prefer it to liquid make-up. I noticed an improvement in my acne right away and like how the starter set (bareMinerals Get Started Kit) comes with a new set of brushes.”
Dr. Honet and Carolyn recommend this makeup line to patients with acne of all ages. Not only is it economical because a little goes a long way, but the coverage can be very sheer to more complete with just an extra swipe of the brush. Because it is a mineral powder, pores don’t get clogged and extra oil isn’t added. It is also a wonderful starter makeup line for our young tween to teenage girls because it is so easy to use, while providing a very natural, “un-made” look. Moms like it, too.
“It has been my go-to hand and face moisturizer for years. I love the light non-greasy feel and the lasting softness of my skin after using it. My parents and husband are hooked on it, too!”
“This is the mainstay of [my daughter] Julianne’s atopic dermatitis regimen in just one product. I notice a smoothness to her skin each morning after using it the night before. Because it is safe for a baby’s face, it’s one of my favorites to include in baby gifts as well.”
Happy, Healthy Skin!
